Recipe Thursday - Stuffed Green Peppers


This is one of my daughter's favorite dinners.

Ingredients:

5 Medium Green Bell Peppers
1 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil
½ Cup Chopped Onion
4 Tablespoons Chopped Celery
2 Cloves of Garlic, Minced
1 Pound Ground Beef
1 Cup Cooked Rice
1 Large Can of Tomato Sauce
1 Jar of Sliced Mushrooms, Drained
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tablespoon Italian Herb Seasoning
½ Teaspoon Sugar
¼ Teaspoon Salt
¼ Teaspoon Peppper


1)Preheat oven to 300 Degrees
2)Remove tops and seeds from green peppers
3)Cook peppers upside down in boiling water for 15 minutes
4)Heat oil in large skillet on medium heat
5)Add onion, celery, and garlic. Cook and stir until tender
6)Add meat, cooking until browned
7)Remove from heat
8)Add rice, ½ can of tomato sauce, mushrooms, Worcestershire, Italian herbs, sugar, salt and pepper
9)Stir mixture until well blended
10)Drain peppers and place upright in baking dish
11)Spoon mixture into peppers
12)Pour remaining tomato sauce over peppers
13)Bake for 20 minutes
14)Sprinkle peppers with cheese
15)Bake for 10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted
