Surrounded by pink

Daughter and I met with the florist Saturday. She had already picked the color scheme: shades of pink and silver. The 8 bridesmaids are in pale pink. The 2 attendants are in a darker pink. The 3 flower girls are in white with pale pink and dark pink ribbons. The guys are wearing black tuxes with silver vests and ties. Fathers are in black tuxes and a darker silver vest and tie.

Now to flowers. For all of you uninitiated make sure you not only eat but have refreshments. You will be there a few hours. You will need substenance and water. If you can sneak liquor in a water bottle, all the better. You will need it.

Daughter settled on a white roses with a few pale pink roses in her bouquet, handwrapped. (For those of you not into wedding lingo - this means you see the stems and they are wrapped in the middle with ribbon. They are not arranged into a foam thingie thus they are not fed water to keep them from drooping). This lingo is important when picking out your flowers. If you want a flower that will droop in just a couple of hours, you don't want them handwrapped. The decision for handwrapped alone took over an hour. Flowers in said bouquet another hour.

Bridesmaids are having a range of colors of pink roses with some blue flower I have no idea what it is but we were assured it would not look out of place. Daughter isn't sure of the blue. This decision was put on hold until florist can make up a bouquet with said blue in it before daughter will approve. This decision took 2 hours.

Groomsmen are wearing hot pink roses. Now daughter went ballistic until she was shown a hot pink rose. It is not neon pink. It barely looks pink but more of a tipped deep pink almost red rose. She settled back down. This decision took another hour. We are telling the groomsmen nothing until they get their flowers and then they are told they are red not hot pink.

Then we had the mother's flowers, grandmothers and grandfather's flowers, flower girl baskets of petals, church flowers, cake flowers, head table flowers, and the rest of the table centerpieces. AKA headache city and another 3 hours and we aren't done.

So we are incorporating hydrangeas in the cake and table flowers along with the shades of pink roses and rose petals.

I then had to order the bridal shower flowers. Florist informs me that the 1st shower keeps with the flowers of the wedding but not as many....2nd shower to have more....leading up to the wedding then the reception as the main event.

I could no longer think. So we left and I will go back this week and do the shower flowers. I am thinking pink voltive candles with pink silk hydrangea petals (real is not in season and has to be imported from either South Africa or Holland aka much dinero), and a few pink roses per table...maybe floating in a low bubble vase with svarowski crystal gems on the bottom which we will carry into the reception.

At this point, pink is no longer my favorite color.
